The World Health Assembly (WHA) is the decision-making body of WHO. It is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States and focuses on a specific health agenda prepared by the Executive Board. The main functions of the World Health Assembly are to determine the policies of the Organization, appoint the Director-General, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed programme budget. In 2013, the WHA will be held from May 20th to 28th.
Among the themes of the provisional agenda to be examined by the Assembly are the WHO Reform, Noncommunicable Diseases (disabilities); Health in the post-2015 development agenda; Social Determinants of health; Counterfeit Medicines; the report of Consultative Expert Working Group on Research and Development (CEWG); Universal health Coverage, among others.
